# 8 Michael Romett reading
After seeing the movie The Boondock Saints one can see various religious resemblances. I recently read an article on the same themes that are seen throughout the movie. The article did not throw in any correlation with the action and why scenes were put in the ways that they were, but the religious side was largely the concentration. Themes seen throughout this reading were the idea of the Celtic cross that the brothers wore around religiously. Showing their heritage and what they stood for. Along with the cross was the prayer that they used after killing the last person in each room and placing pennies on their eyes. The idea behind this was they wanted to let the soul of the individual they were killing hear the prayer that basically told them why they were being executed the way that they were. The pennies were a reference from Greek Mythology that there was a toll to pay for the dead to be able to get past the ferryman. This was shown in a more realistic view in the film, but the honor that the brothers put into the acts that they were preforming symbolized not only what they stood for but also where they came from. At the end of this reading there was a reference to the scene in the movie when the brothers were reunited with their father. Showing that the harm that caused him to be locked up was what made the strength of the brothers able to perform the acts that they did, during their mission that was seen as a calling from God, to get rid of evil and make the streets a better place for everyone else around them.
