Tyler McElhenny- Harry Potter
I was a big fan of the Harry Potter books growing up. The stories got me wondering if there are people that believe a wizarding world could actually exist. In Big Fish, the father believed his stories to be true despite his son continuing to insist that he was blatantly lying. I wonder if some people are just so into the idea of being witches and wizards that they imagine a secret world like that. Obviously in the Harry Potter books, the wizards attempt to be hidden from the “Muggle” world. Knowing that, I am sure that people think there is a town in England made of magical people. This goes against all logic and realism but who is to say that those people are wrong? In Big Fish, I sided with the father. He should be able to tell his stories the way he wanted to, stretching the facts or not. I don’t think that these wizarding people would be crazy either and they are entitled to their own opinion. Spells and other sorts of enchantments might exist and they might not. It all comes down to your own person beliefs and how you view life. People that have never seen a microwave before might think of it as magic that food is magically turned hot in a matter of seconds. I think that regardless of how absurd or ridiculous we might think somebody’s opinion might be of a topic, we can’t discount it because there might not be a right or wrong. That is why it will always be called an opinion.
