Tyler McElhenny- Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty

These two films are some of my favorite comedies. In both films, the main characters Bruce Nolan and Evan Baxter are given roles to fill by God. Bruce is given all the power that God has. Throughout the film, he is able to control everything that goes on in the world except for everyone's individal free will. He attempts to make his girlfriend fall back in love with him artificially, failing time and time again. It isn't until he realizes that he needs to help others and treat everyone right does he get her back. He is able to see that he wasn't being the best person he could be. In the film Evan Almighty, Evan is given the responsibility that Noah had. God says a flood is eventually coming and it is Evan's duty to build the ark in order to save all the animals. Everyone believes him to be crazy and when the terrible storm passes without a flood, Evan begins to doubt himself. In the end, it was a dam that explodes and Evan is able to save the animals as well as people from a disaster in his neighborhood. Both of the films show obvious religious aspects. The films express the idea of helping others which is something that gets lost in our daily lives.
